The Mineralogical Section

The
Grube Clara

The mineralogical section contains minerals from the last mine still in operation in the Black Forest, the Grube Clara.

It features a three-dimensional model of the Grube Clara in the rear Rankach Valley.

It also displays the product range and processing stages of the extracted ores.

Regional Diversity & Private Collections

Contains minerals from the entire Black Forest (Wittichen, Grube Wenzel, Münstertal, Schauinsland, Wieden, Grube Friedrich-Christian, agates), to name just a few. Features mineral exhibits from private collectors along with their biographies.

Historical Mining & Equipment

Also features mining exhibits such as tools, lamps, coins (mining talers), and uniforms.

The Mathematical Part

The interactive mathematics exhibition at the MiMa is curated and managed by the Mathematisches Forschungsinstitut Oberwolfach (MFO).
